This week we headed to Sydney for a media launch with Koori Radio and hosted by media legend and dear friend Jeff McMullen. A massive thank you to Koori Radio and Gadigal for greatly assisting to put on the midday launch and make sure you pick up the next Koori Mail, NIT, Vibe Magazine and listen to Koori radio for more play during the coming months ahead. Big love to Jeff McMullen for a fantastic review and heart felt comments.

Backed by some of country music’s finest pickers, I had a blast playing with including Rudy Miranda, Ian Lees, Steve Pasfield and Producer/Guitar Icon Stuie French. You can see by the photo’s I was in my element, as they not only bring a sense of ease on stage but they crack me up with classic country picking. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Please head to my fan page on Facebook and Myspace for these great photo albums. I hope you are enjoying the music and we look forward to seeing you on the road across the country. More blogs, videos and picks to come. See you soon.

**Media Release: Stars Glow with Praise at the ‘dawn’ of new talent**

3 June, 2010

Stars glow with praise at
the ‘dawn’ of new talent.

Entertainment heavyweights and industry stars are coming out of the woodwork with glowing praise and accolades in support of rising country music star Adam James and his new album – Children of the Sunrise – which launches on the 9th June in Sydney.

Media personalities Ray Martin, Jeff McMullen, country star Felicity Urquhart and a host of domestic and international publications are raving about James’s talent, which is perfectly showcased on the new album, according to McMullen who is also hosting the launch at Sydney’s Yaama Diyhaan in Darlington.

“Adam’s a ‘star’ in every sense of the word, and he brings with him what all truly successful artists have –innovation; take his title track, Children of the Sunrise, there is so much freshness and heart in his writing, and it creates a new space in country music.

“He is a countryman with such a strong sense of place and such a huge love of family.

“This [album] may redefine the genre,” said McMullen.

Renowned TV journalist and host, Ray Martin, powerfully echoed McMullen’s sentiments when asked to categorise James’s ability and potential.

“I grew up listening to country music – both in Australia and America, where I worked for a decade, and for many years ‘The Midday Show’ put me in the studio with new exciting country talent – from Keith Urban to Lee Kernighan and Troy Cassar-Daley.

“I think Adam James has the good looks ‘n’ personality, the musical potential and the passion to match any of those stars,” Martin said.

Country star in her own right, Felicity Urquhart, was another to rally behind James’s new album and lead single release, “Freedom Now Begins,” on her ABC National radio program “Saturday Night Country.”

“Adam James is the whole package; his passion for music and community are rare in such a young artist; his striking presence makes Adam stand out from the new breed of country artists; he knows what he believes and delivers with unwavering conviction.

“This album will introduce a new audience to this young artist,” said Urquhart.

In addition, James collected accolades on his May tour of Europe and North America where he played a limited number of performances to showcase the hit songs from the album.

**NEW YORK, NEW YORK**

20 May, 2010

G’day Bloggers

This week we saw the long and short of New York – all the glitz, glamour, spectacle, varying degrees of culture along with a guest performance at Spike Hill Brooklyn.  This is my first trip to the states and I can really see why it’s the land of opportunity and can definitely recommend New York as a must see for any musician, artist or tourist – New York beats an incredible heart. Walking through Greenwich Village I found a great record store with some classic vinyl, even scoring a classic 70’s Glen Campbell 12″ with a giant signed poster.  This one is going strait to the pool room!  For art, fashion, culture, live music, fantastic food and great atmosphere I can recommend Greenwich, Meat Packing district, Soho, Chelsea & Noho.  These places remind me of home.  Below is some gig footage from the trip – please visit and add me on facebook & myspace for more images of the trip.  I hope you enjoy and I look forward to seeing all of you in the coming months touring the new album Children of the Sunrise across Australia (check gigs for more info).

Adam James performs at Cathy Freeman Initiative Launch

3 May, 2010

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Monday 3rd May 2010

ADAM JAMES PERFORMS AT CATHY FREEMAN INITIATIVE LAUNCH
Rising country artist, Adam James, today performed at The Catherine Freeman Foundation’s launch for it’s new initiative at Olympic Park in Sydney, The Champion of Hope Fun Run, to encourage Australian school students to run in the name of Indigenous education and well-being.
The Champion of Hope Fun Run will raise awareness and funds for the Foundation’s education and well-being programs for Indigenous children on Palm Island, Queensland, and aims to highlight the importance of positive healthy lifestyles among Indigenous Australians.

Adam, an Indigenous Country singer and television host, comes to the CFF with a wealth of musical and Indigenous community knowledge. Born to an Indigenous family in North Stradbroke Island, he also has family connections with Palm Island and similarly understands the issues facing isolation and one of the most disadvantaged communities in Australia. Adam was approached by the Foundation to use his song, “Children of The Sunrise”, as the initiative’s theme and also invited him to be a Champion of Hope Ambassador – a role which Adam accepted with great pride. “Working closely with the Cathy Freeman Foundation allows me to further develop my connection with young people and champion hope and opportunity in the community of Palm Island”, says Adam.

The Champion of Hope Fun Run coincides with the ten year anniversary of Cathy’s Olympic win in 2000. It will see Australian schools follow in Cathy’s footsteps by holding their own 400 meter run on October 18-22, 2010. Schools can register for free via the CFF website -www.catherinefreemanfoundation.com or by completing a Champion of Hope Fun Run registration form which will be distributed to schools in late May. As well as helping Palm Islanders, one lucky school will also win a personal visit from Cathy. “We hope the Champion of Hope Fun Run will encourage students to consider the challenges their Indigenous peers face and help create a way for the Palm Island kids to ‘have a go’ and develop their self esteem,” Cathy said.

Cathy concluded, “We hope the fun run will help the kids of Palm Island by actively involving children from around the country to help raise awareness and new opportunities for young Indigenous Australians.”

ENDS

The Catherine Freeman Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation which aims to create pathways to a brighter future for indigenous children. The Catherine Freeman Foundation works in partnership with community organisations, businesses, schools and other philanthropists in facilitating educational opportunities for young indigenous girls.

Adam James is an Indigenous singer/songwriter from Queensland. His debut album, “Messages & Memories”, earned rave reviews and his new album, “Children of The Sunrise” will be released in June 2010. The album’s first single, “Freedom Now Begins”, is at radio now. Adam will also be a special guest on ABC Radio’s “Saturday Night Country” with Felicity Urquart this Saturday.
